1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-1861, PLATE 10
Pos 80L10, (Scott #24)
Scott #24 Blue,
Type V, Relief D
Issued only Perforate.

The violet arrows are marks of interest and may or may not be constant. Red arrows are known plating marks illustrated in the Neinken plating diagrams. The most dramatic plating marks are located in the margin below "CENT" which is cut off by perforations on this copy.

Other marks of note not shown in the Ashbrook/Neinken plating diagrams.
UPDATE: Dec 24 2004
The blurs in "US POSTAGE," particularly in the O, S, T and G have been confirmed constant. The violet arrow at inner top right points to a near-vertical scratch which has also been confirmed constant.

FIGURE 1. (Below) Faint plating marks per plating diagrams. Note that the plating diagrams do not clearly represent this feature clearly.

FIGURE 2. (Below) Plating marks per plating diagrams inside of Ornaments P/Q.

FIGURE 3. (Below) Plating marks per plating diagrams to the right of Ornament R. The two violet arrows have been confirmed as consistent marks. The 3 dots at right are remnants of the design, but are very good plating marks for the position.
