1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-1861, PLATE 10 Pos 95L10, (Scott #24) |
| Scott #24 Blue, Type V, Relief F Issued only Perforate. Part of a Block of 4, 85L10-86L10, 95L10-96L10 The heavy dot in the "C" of CENT has been confirmed as constant and is an excellent method for separating Plate 10 F Reliefs from other plates. The plating diagram also illustrates a triangle shaped mark in Franklins head directly below the centerline of the P and O of POSTAGE. This example does not show this feature. The faint dot, to the southeast of Ornament M (violet arrow), has been confirmed as consistent. |

| FIGURE 2. (Below) Plating marks in the lower left ornaments as illustrated in the Neinken plating diagram. The heavy dot in the "C" of CENT has been confirmed as constant and also has been confirmed on Positions 91 thru 100R10. The plating diagrams do not indicate this mark. This dot was probably a bit of matter that attached itself to the transfer roller when the plate was being made.
