1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-1861, PLATE 10 Position 1R10, (Scott #24) |
| Scott #24 Blue, Type V, Relief A Issued only Perforate. The impressive plate damage located in the upper left quadrant makes this position easy to plate. This damage occurred early in the plate's printing life as impressions lacking the damage appear scarce. The Neinken plating diagrams illustrate all the indicated plating marks but no information is discussed about early impressions lacking the large center margin damage. See Position 10L10 to examine an impression with and without the plate damage. It stands to reason that impressions of 1R10 also exist without this mark. Courtesy of Dick Celler |
