Type II, Relief A
Issued both imperforate (Scott 7) and perforate (Scott 20).

Plate 4 changed it's appearance as many plating marks faded away due to plate wear, and new plating marks developed over the life of the plate. One of the most annoying aspects of trying to identify Plate 4 positions is the appearance and disappearance of these plating marks.

Other plating notes:
There is a small dot above the small unnamed ornament between Ornaments A/S. A heavy dot, not unlike a guide dot, can be found above Ornament W. Like all plate 4 top row positions, a guide dot is located in the upper right corner between Ornaments Z/L.

Figure 3. (BELOW) Small dot in the O of POST. The Neinken plating mat illustrates plating marks in the A of POSTAGE. The impression of this stamp is poor and these marks do not show well. The plate scratch under Ornament L (purple arrows) may not be consistent.
