Issued both imperforate and perforate.

Plate 4 changed it's appearance as many plating marks faded away due to plate wear, and new plating marks developed over the life of the plate. One of the most annoying aspects of trying to identify Plate 4 positions is the appearance and disappearance of these plating marks.

PLATING NOTES: There is a faint vertical line of color west of Ornament D. A faint horizontal blur line can barely be seen protruding from the top of Ornament T. A small diagonal line of color protruding from the lower part of Ornament E (See Fig.2). Lastly, a faint diagonal line of color protrudes from Ornament K. Many plating marks are not shown on the Neinken plating diagrams but have been confirmed as consistent.
