This is part of a vertical strip of 2 consisting of 70L5 and 80L5.

The images below are from an early impression of the stamp. To study a late impression of this same position, See 80L5 late impression. The violet arrows below are marks of interest and may not be consistent or reliable for plating. The red arrows indicate plating marks shown in the Neinken plating diagrams.

Figure 1. (Below) Small broken vertical blurry line below Ornament "R". This plating marks appears more pronounced in the later impression.

Figure 2. (Below) The plating diagrams once again do not clearly represent the actual marks shown in the photomicrograph.

Figure 3. (Below) Various scratches and other possible plating marks that are not shown on the plating diagrams. The most interesting are the 2 small curls in the shoulder. Another student of this issue has confirmed these curls as consistent on his copies. The blur below the "E" of ONE has also been confirmed. Examine the other copy of 80L5 to see the scratch on a later printing.
