1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-61, PLATE 5 Position 93R5 |
| Scott #24 Blue, Type Va, Relief F Issued only perforated. Plate surface markings in the shoulder and margins similar to mottling. These have the appearance of burnt spots or a blotch of small blisters. These plate blisters are found in many positions on Plate 5 and are an immense help in confirming the position. This feature is only partially illustrated in the plating diagram. The blurs in the left margin are much more extensive than shown in the diagram, and the diagram does not illustrate the blurs on the shoulder at all. |
