1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-1861, PLATE 8
Pos 31R8, (Scott #24)
Scott #24 Blue,
Type V, Relief D
Issued only Perforate.

Neinken states that this position has no plating marks. In fact there is no information about this position at all. But there are many other marks of interest which could be used to help plate a single stamp.

FIGURE 1. (Below) A blur of color between and below the E and N of CENT. A faint nearly diagonal line of color in the right plume remains.

FIGURE 2. (Below) Short vertical dash of color to the left of Ornament A and deep bluring in the S and lower serif of P should aid the plater in confirming with certainty this position. It should be noted that the blurring in the S, P and O can be found on other positions.
