1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-1861, PLATE 8 Pos 81R8, (Scott #24) |
| Scott #24 Blue, Type V, Relief E Issued only Perforate. This position and Position 41R8 share the same curl plating mark over the "E" in CENT. The small dot shown in Figure 4 is the most helpful difference between these 2 positions. The violet arrows indicate other marks of note to help distinguish the 2 positions with more certainty. These other marks have at this time not been confirmed by other students and may not be consistent. |

| FIGURE 1. (Below) Curl above "E" of CENT. It should be noted that this curl also appears on Position 41R8 as well. The dot in the T of CENT is constant and is not illustrated in the plating diagrams. This small dot helps differentiate Pos 41R8 from 81R8.

| FIGURE 2. (Below) The strong horizontal mark (Red Arrows) cutting across the center line is a plating mark shown on Position 71R8.

| FIGURE 3. (Below) A small dot west of Ornament "D" helps differentiate Pos 41R8 from 81R8. This mark is not shown in the plating diagrams.
