1¢ Franklin Issue of 1857-1861, PLATE 9
Position 76R9, (Scott #24)
Scott #24 Blue,
Type V, Relief D
Issued only Perforate.

It is interesting to note that the D reliefs coming from the 8th horizontal row (71R9 thru 80R9 and 77L9 thru 80L9) have blobs of color in the O and T of POSTAGE. Neinken notes this only on 72R9, 78R9, 80R9 and 80L9 but not the other positions.

FIGURE 1. (Below) Heavy dots of color in the lower left ornaments and the N of ONE as illustrated in the Neinken plating diagrams.

FIGURE 2. (Below) Dots of color to the right of Ornament R as illustrated in the Neinken plating diagrams. Other marks of interest in the lower right ornaments and E of CENT have not been confirmed as consistent.

FIGURE 3. (Below) Right pane D reliefs coming from the 8th horizontal row (71R thru 80R) have blobs of color in the O and T of POSTAGE. 76R9 also features a nick of color in the loop of P and a blurry dot of color above Ornament S. Neinken notes similar plating marks only on 72R9, 78R9 and 80R9.
